Karunesh was born in 1956 in Cologne, Germany, as Bruno Reuter. Since his early childhood he had a strong connection with music and performed in various teenager music bands. He studied Graphic Design, graduated but always felt that this was not what he really wanted in life. After a serious motor accident in which he was nearly killed, he decided to quit his job. This "near death" experience proved to be a spiritual turning point in his life. Karunesh traveled to India where he met Osho in his ashram in Poona. He became initiated and took on a new spiritual name, Karunesh, a Sanskrit name meaning "compassion".

  Back in Germany Karunesh lived in the Rajneesh commune in Hamburg for five years. Here he could develop his musical creativity in a spiritual surrounding. He came in contact with many musicians from all over the world and developed the ability to wave different styles and feelings from different cultures together in a living symbiosis - carried by his unmistakable <Melodies From The Heart>, his feeling for spiritual atmospheres and rhythms that make you want to dance.

  In 1984 he released his first album <Sounds Of The Heart> which immediately became a bestseller and a "classic" title in the New Age market. During the next years, five more bestselling albums were to follow, including <Colours Of Light>, <Heart Chakra Meditation> and <Secrets Of Life>. As one of the first artists to ever incorporate world music influences into his music, his albums gathered numerous accolades and awards. With more than 450.000 albums sold, Karunesh established himself among the best-known new age artists in the world. Since 1992 he lives in Maui, Hawaii.

  It was over breakfast one morning in Maui that company president Terence Yallop, with his background of Taoist philosophy and Tai-Chi, and Karunesh, musician, sat down to talk about their hopes and dreams. From this meeting their creative collaboration was formed and Zen Breakfast conceived.
